Theo was born on May 6, 1930, to the late Robert and Ruth (Cotten) Fillingim in Plains, Texas and graduated from Hico High School. Buck married the love of his life, Patsy Tooley, on July 8, 1950, in Hico. They lived in New Home, Plains and Dimmitt, before settling in Lubbock in 1965. Buck was a born salesman from propane equipment to selling cars. He was a member of Monterey Baptist Church and a 32nd degree Mason. Buck’s hobbies included: fishing, golfing, drag racing and going to the casino with his family. He enjoyed boxing and was undefeated. Some of his favorite times were spent with family, vacationing in Colorado.
Along with his parents, Buck was preceded in death by his brother, Robert L. “Skeet” Fillingim, and a sister, Bobbie Wardle.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving “girlfriend” and wife of sixty-six years, Patsy Fillingim; five children, Renea Latham and husband Jerry of Horseshoe Bay, Glenn Fillingim and wife Casie of Big Spring, Bruce Fillingim and wife Lisa of Coppell, Michelle Nix and husband Craig, and Melanie Spradling and husband Troy all of Lubbock; his beloved fifteen grandchildren, Shaun, Shaydra, Jerrod, Meredith, Ashton, Andrew, Samuel, Maxwell, Jacob, Tiffany, Cole, Tye, Micah, Morgan, and Macy; nineteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Derel Fillingim of Hico, and Carel Fillingim and wife, Jackie of Burleson, and a sister, Doris Blakley and husband, Charles of Iredel and a sister-in-law, Micheline Fillingim of Austin.
