*This burial could also be Phillip Calloway G. HENSON, instead of, or in addition to, the elder Phillip Goodbread Henson. **See note below:
A HENSON FAMILY HISTORY 1725-1850
Author: A. L. Henson, from Missouri
B4-148 - Pages 227-228
This account is given to us by the Goodbread family records (Philip's cousins) and Jackson County estate records.
While visiting with Henson and Goodbread relatives (in Jackson County, Illinois), Philip G. HENSON became ill and died (abt. April 25, 1855). He was buried near Grand Tower, Illinois in the Goodbread Cemetery at Goram, Jackson, Illinois (age 65).
*Buried in an unmarked grave.
SECOND ACCOUNT given by author - A. L. HENSON, from Missouri
This writer had heard all of his life about Philip G. HENSON leaving his invalid wife (Matilda), the Indian woman Lydia, and his home in Wayne County, Illinois, going on west to Missouri with his new found love, a woman no one seems to know.
Supporting source:
History of Wayne and Clay Counties, Illinois, 1884- Pg. 266
Here Philip (Henson) lived an upright life, and in 1860 he moved to Southeast Missouri, where he and wife died some time afterward.
**My Note:
It is very likely that the researchers confused the probate records of Phillip Calloway G. HENSON, born 1833 - died 1855, in Jackson County, Illinois, with this Phillip Goodbread HENSON, 1789-1855. This also means that Phillip Calloway G. HENSON, is buried in this cemetery instead of, or in addition to, the elder Phillip.
