While in Chicago she worked as a RN at the Women's and Children's Hospital. In July of 1949 she married the late Lt. Col. Kenneth W.G. Ahlersmeyer D.P.M. in Crown Point, Indiana. After moving to Fort Wayne, she worked as an Administrative Office Manager and later remained at home to care for her family. Helen will be remembered as a compassionate individual who loved and cared for family, friends, and neighbors. Helen had an infectious smile and a whitty sense of humor. Her children and grandchildren were the sparkle in her eyes. Helen spent her life giving to others. She always made sure everyone had a good time, good food and felt welcomed.
