William "Dave" Clackum, 75, of Cartersville passed away February 19, 2017. A Funeral Service was held at Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta. Interment was at Mountain View Cemetery in Marietta.

Dave was a devoted husband and father who was full of fun and adventure. He overcame difficult odds in his childhood to become a success. He started working at the age of 9 carrying a Marietta Daily Journal paper route and continued working until his final retirement in 2013. He proudly served in the US Navy on the USS Bennington as a 'yellow shirt'. He has fond memories from this time of life where he was trusted with a difficult task and met the challenge. He went on to own Sinclair Gas Station on Roswell Street, then worked at Dobbins AFB before beginning his 35 year career at Lockheed-Martin where he retired as Director of Flight Line Operations. He was not the retiring type and ended up working as General Manager for A&B Floral in Charlotte, NC before ultimately retiring.

He is survived by his wife Carol; daughter Lisa Boget (John) from Anna, Il; grandchildren Mackenzie Boget, Clair Boget, Kathe (Boget) Vagasky and Hadley Heller; step sons Eric and Matt Heller; sisters Sandra Merritt (Wayne) and Cynthia Mauldin; sisters-in Law Betty Alexander (Sammy) and Barbara Osborne(Lou). He had many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
