A 1926 graduate of the former Stevens School for Girls, and a 1929 graduate of the former St Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. She earned a bachelor's degree in 1941 from the former Kutztown State College and a public health certificate from the University of Pennsylvania.
Miss Armstrong was a member of St Paul's United Methodist Church for 80 years. She enjoyed knitting baby blankets which the United Methodist Women sent to the needy.
Born in Bethesda, she was the daughter of the late Joseph S and Mabel Alexander Armstrong. At the age of 6, after the death of her father, she was raised by her grandparents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John A Alexander.
