Mae “Lucille” Allen, 99, of Springville NY, entered into rest Feb. 15, 2017 at the Jennie B. Nursing Home. She was born April 18, 1917 in Salamanca, NY to the late Joel Ward and Christabel (Young) Crandall.

Lucille is survived by son Robert (Sharon) Allen of Endwell; daughter Jean Young and Rick Castro of Amherst; grandchildren Cynthia (Chris) Daniel of Endwell NY, Carrie (Brett) Amo of Ogdensburg, NY, Robert Allen of Houston, TX, Steve Young of Ellington, NY, and Ryan Young of Buffalo, NY; great grandchildren Joseph Palka and Matthew Palka of Vestal, NY, and Ria Amo of Ogdensburg, NY; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eudora Sandeen and Millicent Ahrens; a brother, Earl Meade Crandall; and infant granddaughter Cheryl Allen.

Lucille loved her family and cherished special occasions with them. As a young girl, she learned to play Mahjong and enjoyed teaching her grandchildren to play. She loved planting her flowers and watching the hummingbirds in the yard.

Lucille was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a friend to all who knew her.

Lucille lived most of her life in Gowanda, working as a loan officer for the Gowanda Savings and Loan for 21 years before retirement.

As a member of the United Methodist Church, Lucille was the treasurer for several years and an active member in the church choir.

She was a member of The American Legion’s Women Auxiliary participating in various functions. Lucille enjoyed trips with the ‘Four Score’ ladies in the Collins Center Senior Group.

She loved music, especially The Lawrence Welk Show.

Inurnment will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at the Collins Center Cemetery. Family will receive friends at this time.
