DUMAS - Gilbert "Gib" Vern Richards, 83, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007.
 
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Morrison Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Beth Harrington, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
 
"Gib" was born June 15, 1923, in Stratton, Neb., to Prier and Blanche Richards. He served two years in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In August 1951, he married Esta LaVon Davis Stinnette Richards, who preceded him in death in November 2002. He had been a resident of Dumas since 1976. "Gib" worked for Colorado Interstate Gas for 40 years, retiring in July 1987.
 
Survivors include a daughter, Sheri Arterburn and husband Ron of Whitewater, Colo.; two brothers, Dale Richards of Van Nuys, Calif., and Wayne Richards of McCook, Neb.; and two granddaughters, Gabrielle Arterburn and Tara Arterburn of Whitewater.
