Nathan "Nate" T. Horton, 97, of Fort Wayne, went to be with the Lord on February 11, 2017 while a resident at Sycamore Villages in Fort Wayne. Born November 10, 1919 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Lola (Driskill) Horton and Leo Horton of Big Spring, Texas. He served in the Army in the 45th Division and in the Army Air Corp as a pilot in World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Oklahoma in 1948 with a degree in mechanical engineering. Nate worked as an executive at General Electric in Fort Wayne, Syracuse, New York, Patterson, New Jersey, and again in Fort Wayne. He was a member of Orchard Ridge Country Club, The Chapel, The Friends of the Allen County Public Library, and SCORE. Nate enjoyed reading, playing golf and bridge with his wife, and friends, and being with his siblings, children and grandchildren. He had a keen sense of humor which was passed on to his family. Surviving are his children, Thomas (Lynda) Horton and Michael (Suzanne) Horton, both of Fort Wayne; grandchildren, Elizabeth West of Noblesville, John (Kristen) Horton of Fort Wayne, Katherine (Brad) Sugarman of Indianapolis, Abigail (John) Wright of Columbus, Mary Horton of Indianapolis, and Rachel Horton of Bloomington; great-grandchildren, Kate and Lilly West, Brady, Connor and Madeline Horton, Gavin Wright, and Gus and Ben Sugarman; and his brother, Joe (Patti) Horton of Big Spring, Texas. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ruth (Lasater) Horton, his sister Helen Lawrence, and brothers J.B. Horton, Leo T. Horton, Jr. and Driskill Horton. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017, at The Chapel, 2505 W. Hamilton Road S., Fort Wayne, Indiana 46814 with calling one hour prior. Private burial in Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana.
