Frederick E. Amidon Jr., 63, of West Springfield passed away February 8, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center. Frederick, son of the late Frederick and Mildred (MacDonald) Amidon Sr., was born in Dedham on August 25, 1953. Raised in Marshfield, he graduated from Marshfield High School.

Frederick proudly served his country in the US Air Force. He worked as a salesman for Lawson's Products in Chicago, IL. Frederick was a member of the Lion's Club Lodge in Chicopee and the American Legion Lodge in Sandwich, MA. He was also a blood donor.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Martin Amidon; and his sister Debra Ackerman. Frederick will be missed by all who knew him, including his children, Miranda Flanagan of Holyoke, Christopher Amidon of Holyoke, Courtney Ann Hoyt and her husband Paul of Hawley, and Haleigh Merwin and her husband Jefferey of Belchertown; his grandchildren, Bree Ann Flanagan, Lexi Flanagan, and Olivia Hoyt; his brother, Kenneth Amidon and his wife Karen of Virginia; his girlfriend, Connie Dempsey of West Springfield and her daughter Maureen Basile and her husband Christopher also of West Springfield; his brother in law, Clint Ackerman; and many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours for Frederick will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 4PM to 7PM at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield, MA. Funeral Services will be held Friday, February 17, 2017 beginning at 8:30 at Sampson's followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Catherine of Siena Church at 10AM. Rites of Committal and Interment will follow in Mass. National Cemetery, 800 West St., Bourne, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Frederick's memory may be made to Soldier On, 425 North Main St., Building 6, Leeds, MA 01053 or Chapin School Veterans Project, 40 Meadow St., Chicopee, MA 01013.
