Alma Hoelting, 98, of Franklin died Wednesday, February15, 2017 at the Franklin Care Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church in Franklin. Father Paul Frank will officiate. Burial will take place at the Kearney Cemetery. O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Alma was born March 15, 1918 to Mary and Joe Schutte in Lawrence, NE. On June 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Dan Hoelting at Lawrence, NE. The couple lived in Minden and owned a small business for many years. In 2005, they moved to Northridge Retirement Center. Dan and Alma observed their 70th wedding anniversary. Alma moved to the Franklin Care Center in May of 2012.
Survivors include her daughter Donna (Richard) Choquette of Franklin, NE, and their family, Tammy Choquette of Franklin, Mitchell Choquette, Sammy (Peter) Spirk and Stella and Ethan Spirk and; Gwen (Tim) Meline of Inavale, NE, Megan (Justin) Thorman, Katy (Mark) Weissert, Lakyn and Oakley Weissert; son Maurice (Renee) Hoelting of Atlanta, GA and their family Kim Hoelting, Matthew and Charlotte, Becky (Dan) Short, Gabriella and Mitzi Short; daughter Linda (Doug) Kingery and family, Debra (Rob) Peed of Crawfordville, GA, Mackenzie and Haley Peed, Jeff (Stephanie) Kingery and Raury and Finn Kingery; sisters Norma Karmazin of Lawrence, NE and Mary Alice (Gordon) Sidlo of Hastings.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband, Dan (July 2009); grandson Greg Choquette (December 2011), 6 siblings, brothers and sisters-in-law.
