Mrs. Clara McKibben Roan, 69, widow of William Roan, Bellefonte RD, died Friday, June 24, 1949, at the home of her daughter, Grace Wheeler, Lock Haven.
Mrs. Roan was born at Nittany and lived in that valley most of her life. Recently, she had made her home with Mrs. Wheeler. She and her first husband, William S. McKibben farmed at the East end of Nittany Valley for 22 years.
She was a member of the Lutheran Church at Salona and a member of the Lamar Grange.
She was survived by eight sons; seven daughters, 33 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Miss Lavina Emerick, New York City.
Besides Mrs. Wheeler, she was survived by Mrs. Dorothy Greninger and Mrs. Fannie Smith, both of Lock Haven; Mrs. Ada Brungard, Mill Hall; Mrs. Lavona Fantaskie and Mrs. Nancy Wasson, both of Williamsport; Mrs. Lois Westervelt, Elmira, New York.
Her sons included Neil and Earl McKibben, Lock Haven; Guy McKibben, Mill Hall; Gordon and Jack McKibben, Williamsport; Carl, Jersey Shore, RD; Ira, Bristol; and William, Washington, DC.
Services were held at the McCloskey Funeral Home, Mill Hall, with the Reverend John E. Rine officiating.
Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
