Vina Marie O'Dell, 90, of Orrick, Mo., passed away Monday, February 13, 2017 at the home of her daughter near Orrick.
Vina was born on November 1, 1926 in Orrick, Mo., to Jesse David Covey and Mary Elizabeth (Lee) Covey.
She was a lifelong resident of the Orrick community. She was united in marriage to Luther Lee O'Dell, Sr. on February 24, 1943. He preceded her in death on July 31, 2009. Vina was a homemaker and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed country bluegrass music, going to the lake and fishing. She also loved gardening and tending to her flower beds. She also was fond of raising baby chickens.
Vina was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mary Covey; her husband, Luther Lee O'Dell, Sr. in 2009; her son, Jessie O'Dell in 2001; two daughters, Mary Lee Morrison in 2011 and JoAnn Collins in 2008; and her siblings, David, Jim, and Bessie.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Luther Lee O'Dell, Jr. and Jimmie and Gale O'Dell, all of Orrick, Mo.; daughters, Janet Millsap of Richmond, Mo., and Shirley Offutt of Orrick, Mo.; Dorothy and Bob Bell of Higginsville, Mo.; 15 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 42 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday, February 18, 2017 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Gowing Funeral Home in Orrick. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home with burial following at the City Cemetery in Richmond, Mo.
Memorials are suggested to the Orrick Fire and Rescue Squad.
