Samuel Alexander Funeral Rites Held at Lone Tree Church Lone Tree—Funeral services for Samuel N. Alexander, 73, were held at the M.-E. church in Lone Tree Sunday, afternoon at two o'clock, conducted by the Rev. S. Ward Hatfield.

Burial was in the Evans cemetery, southwest of Lone Tree.

Pallbearers were Lloyd O. Watson, William Pearson, Charles Hawthorne, W. H. Brewster, John Klein, and James Bell. Flower- attendants were Mrs. Hatfield and Mrs. Iva Storm.

He died at his home Jan. 13.

On Jan. 10, 1887 he married Gertrude Alice Lutes, who preceded him in death, April 5, 1935.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Louis J. Anderson of West Branch, Laura and Ellen at home.

Mr. Alexander lived his entire life in this community and had been assessor for about 30 years. He was president of the Lone Tree Telephone Co., having been instrumental in organization of the company 35 years ago; was secretary of the township school board and member of the trustees of Farmers and Merchants Savings bank of Lone Tree.

Samuel was a Democrat. He was a small boy when his father died. Later on he became the Assessor in Fremont township and held this office for 30 years.
