Jacob I. Hudson was born in Wilks county, North Carolina, October 18, 1831, and died at his home in Stewartsville, Mo., September 30, 1919, lacking 18 days of being 88 years old. At the age of 2 years he moved with his parents to Virginia and settled in Lee county, 5 miles east of Cumberland Gap, in Powell's valley. In the year 1850 he came with the family to the state of Missouri, landing at Westen, Platte county, October 10, He has been a resident of the state ever since.
On October 9, 1862, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah A. Delaney of Clinton County. No children were born of this union. In the year 1862 he made a profession of religion and united with the Lebanon Baptist church and was baptized by the late Rev. James D. Black. He subsequently transferred his membership to the Christian church at old Mt. Zion south of Starfield. He assisting in Building the Bethany Christian church in 1850, and held his membership in that church at the time of his death. His funeral took place at Lebanon church on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at 2:30 p.m. Rev. D. G. Saunders of this placed who had known him for more than 50 years preached his funeral sermon, after which his remains were buried by the side of his relatives in the old cemetery there. His bereaved companion has the sympathy of all in her sorrow.
