Hildebrand, John Carlton “Jack”, 89, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2017 at Springhurst Rehab and Nursing Center in Louisville, KY, surrounded by his family.
Jack was born in Cardington, Ohio to the late Raymond and Della McCracken Hildebrand, the youngest of three children.

He graduated from Cardington High School where he was a four year letterman (baseball), then was drafted and served in the U.S. Air Force (WWII). He participated in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. and was a KY Colonel. After serving our country, he furthered his education and graduated from Miami of Ohio University (member of Delta Chi fraternity). After graduation, he moved to Louisville managing Western Auto stores and became an avid UofL sports fan following the football team and both the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

He was a devoted father and husband with a quick wit and tremendous heart who enjoyed playing golf, card games and a good game of pool.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Hammann Hildebrand, and sisters, Pearl Germain (George) and Bertha Nye (Chuck).

He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Hildebrand (Tonia); and son, John William Hildebrand (Susan). He leaves behind his beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jack’s funeral service will be at 11:00 am Friday, February 17, 2017 at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road, with burial to follow in Cave Hill Cemetery.
