Juliette Haugrud, 90, of Barnesville, MN died at the ClayCo Care Center in Barnesville, MN on Thursday, July 10, 2014.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at the Assumption Catholic Church in Barnesville, with Father Gary LaMoine presiding. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Barnesville.

Visitation will be from 5-8 PM, Monday, July 14, 2014 at Dobmeier Funeral Home in Barnesville, with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held for one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday.

Juliette Edith Cihak was born on May 17, 1924 to Theodore and Christina (Kollar) Cihak on the family farm in rural Barnesville. She was 6th in the family. She attended country school. Her father died at a young age and Juliette stayed home to help raise the family.

She was married and to this union one son Gregory was born. Gregory had special needs and Juliette had a special bond raising and caring for him. For many years, Juliette worked at Bernie’s Cafe and later continued to cook Saturday nights at the American Legion.

Juliette worked with her second husband Lowell Haugrud and they had a drywall and excavating business. Juliette worked hard physical labor for many years. She was a strong, tough woman.

Juliette made beautiful hand work and crocheted many doylies and afghans. She won numerous awards at the Clay County Fair for her handiwork. Onlookers enjoyed her home where she raised beautiful geraniums and roses. Juliette also liked to drop a line in the water and fish. She was a good cook and baker. She was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church and had volunteered for many things over the years. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary #4628.

She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews, one brother Adrian Cihak in Fargo, ND, sisters in law Elaine Cihak, and Dianne Cihak.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gregory, husband Lowell Haugrud, 10 siblings: Gladys Sakry, Albin Cihak, Lawrence Cihak, Geraldine O’Donnell, John Cihak, Bernard Cihak, Jeanette Cihak, Marilyn Gillespie, infant sister Helen.
