CWO4 Kenneth Neil Aldridge, 66, died Sunday morning (January 21, 2007) at Satilla Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.
He is a native of Homeland, but he has lived most of his life in Waycross. He retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Explosive Ordinance Disposal Division after 20 years of service. His military career also included service in the Vietnam War. After retirement, he was employed as a correctional officer at Ware State Prison for 5 years, and operated his own business building cabinets. He was also a member of Grace Chapel.
He is the son of the late Neil Aldridge and Mary Jane Mizell Aldridge Perry. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Aldridge; and two sisters, Louise Murtha and Hazel Miles.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Mattie Anderson Aldridge of Waycross; a daughter, Laura Ricker (husband Don) of Augusta; a son, Ken Aldridge, Jr. (wife Kelley) of McDonough; four grandchildren, Kelsey, Taylor, Emma and Colby Aldridge; a sister, Willene Krayenborg of Jacksonville, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday (January 23, 2007) at the Music Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorialization will be by cremation.
