John F. Beckwith, Sr., age 70 of Plainfield, formerly of Bolingbrook and Canaryville area of Chicago. Passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by the love of his family. Cherished husband for 47 years of the late Jo Anne J. Beckwith. Beloved father of Tammy (Matthew) McDonald, Kimberly Beckwith and John F. (Britny) Beckwith, Jr. Loving grandpa of Kate (Kyle), Danielle, Mary, Johnny, Jake, Sean, and Ryan. Fond brother of Anna Marie (John) Griffin and Mary Kay (Myles) Dannhausen. Uncle of many nieces and nephews.

John enlisted into the Marine Corp and spent 3 years serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was a proud graduate apprentice of Boilermakers Union Local #1 achieving 45 year distinguishment. He retired from the State of Illinois as a boiler inspector. John was a lifetime member of American Legion #5917 and VFW #1288 of Bolingbrook.

Visitation: 1:00-7:00 PM Sunday, February 12th at Overman-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 15219 S. Joliet Rd., Plainfield, IL 60544. (Corners of Rt. 30 & Rt. 59)

Funeral Service: Monday, February 13th 9:00 AM at the funeral home.

Interment to follow with full military honors at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
