Winifred “Jo” (Wilhide) Adams passed away peacefully on February 6, 2017, at the Brethren Home - Cross Keys Village in New Oxford, Pennsylvania where she resided for the past eleven years.

Born September 13, 1920 in Hagerstown, Jo was the daughter of the late Carl Wilhide and Verda (Long) Wilhide. She was a graduate of Boonsboro High School before becoming a homemaker and devoted wife of the late Roland Austin Adams who preceded her in death in 1979.

Jo loved people and was an avid sports fan, particularly the Baltimore Orioles. She loved family gatherings and was a master at reciting all 50 state capitals. She was a warm and generous soul and had a smile that lit up the room.

Jo is survived by her three daughters: Carol Gladhill and husband Donald of Thurmont, Maryland, Sherry Shriner and husband David of Fairfield, Pennsylvania, and JoEllen Gluscevich and husband Lincoln of Frederick, Maryland; her sister, Mildred (Wilhide) Griffith; grandchildren Christa Whelan and husband David, Kimberly Roberts and husband John, Tracie Miller and husband Jerry, Cheryl Phelan and husband Robert, Julie Gluscevich, Brenda Beard and companion Adam Harbaugh, Bobbie Jo Gray and husband Gary, Donna Shoemaker and husband Ryan; eighteen great grandchildren; one great great grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Jo was preceded in death by her sister, Marie (Wilhide) Conrad; son, Roland Douglas Adams; and grandsons Brent Stull and Justin Gluscevich.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 10, 2017 at the Stauffer Funeral Home in Frederick and a memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM. Pastor Mark Huffman, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and Pastor Ron Reaves, Zion Lutheran Church will officiate. Interment will be at the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
