Fred Charles Brooks, widower of Bettie Lipscomb Brooks, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2017.
Born in Greenville County on May 13, 1926, he was the son of the late Cicero Pinkney and Bessie Cox Brooks.
Fred served his country in the United States Navy Air Corp during World War II and returned to attend and graduate from Furman University in 1949. He was employed by Equifax in Greenville, Spartanburg, Easley, and Atlanta and retired after 40 years of service.
As a life-long member of East Park Baptist Church, he served as deacon and taught Sunday School for many years. He was also active in the community as a member of the American Legion, the Masons at Taylor's Lodge, Piedmont Claim's Association, Toastmasters (past President), and Pleasantburg Lion's Club (past President) where he was the 2016 Lion of the Year.
Fred is survived by three children, Linda Cranford (Mack), Pam Flowers (Donald), and Chris Brooks (Ginger); six grandchildren: Drew Cranford (Sarah), Hannah Cranford Hughston (Matt), Pierce Cranford, Justin Flowers, Peyton Flowers, and Ryan Brooks.
Burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
