"where I lost two fingers of my left hand being shot off; the sinew of my right arm, was cut by a British Dragoon in the retreat: Besides which I received two bayonet stabs in my right thigh & Leg. Pension App S39148

I was afterward in the winter of 1778 discharged at the Valley Forge: the discharge I long had but moving about it has been worn out & destroyed.

I took a wagon master’s place in the army, and was taken prisoner by the British at the fall of Charleston in 1780
