Funeral services are pending for Frank G. “Hip” Steen of 2605 Highland who died at his residence Saturday evening. Coker-Mathews Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Funeral services for Frank G. “Hip” Steen, 70, of 2605 Highland, are set for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Coker-Mathews Funeral Home chapel. He died Saturday night at his residence.

Rev. Leonard Mansen will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Park Cemetery.

He was born April 1, 1914 in Campbell to Frank and Stella Dingler Steen. He married Josephine Davis on Sept. 4, 1935 in Durant, Okla. Mr. Steen retired after 23 years as a regional sales representative for Wilson Sporting Goods Co. in 1971. He was inducted into the Greenville High School Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981 and the Austin College Athletic Hall of Fame in 1965. Mr. Steen was a member of Central Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, of Greenville; three daughters, Judy Christopher and Cheril Neil, both of Dallas, and Joel Reynolds of Houston; a brother, J.C. Steen of Lindale; a sister, Mozelle S. Danvers of Dallas, and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

Pallbearers will be Forest Geesey, Fred Roy, Bill Polk, Ralph Hollywood, Hughes White and Billy Ford. Jake Robinson, Henry Maxwell, Dr. C.C. Sheldon, Dave Mahaffey, Art Krause, Gus McHam, Dr. Bob Mason, Ralph McCord, Jim Caughran and J.C. Henry will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family asks memorials be made to Central Christian Church or Children’s Medical Center in Dallas.
