Ernest Lee Bertram, 85, passed away on Saturday, February 4th, 2017 at Aspen Trace in Greenwood. He was a resident of Morgantown, Indiana.
He was born on February 2, 1932 in Franklin, Illinois to Ernest K. and Elizabeth J. (Bunch) Bertram. He married his wife of sixty-one years, Betty Rose (Wright) on June 25th, 1955. She lovingly survives. Ernest is also survived by four children, Susan A. Beck of Byron, Illinois; Jody (Kevin) King of Franklin, Tennessee; Jennifer Lee (Al) Fennewald of Carmel and Tim (Debbie) Bertram of Morgantown. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Amy (Jose) Tapia; Dallas Beck; Katie Beck; Amanda (Steve) Lyddane; Elizabeth Barnes; Anthony King; Che (Veronica) Hiracheta and Aja (Chris) Grant and thirteen great grandchildren, Gavin, Finley, Easton, Anniston, Hayden, Tucker, Rylee, Fallynn Ann, C.J., Julian, Jace, Lyric and Aria. He was preceded in passing by his parents, and a sister, Betty Ann Barnes.
He was a 1950 graduate from New Palestine High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp.
Ernest was employed as a supervisor at Moorfeed Corp in Indianapolis. He also worked at Midwest Feeder in Belvidere, Illinois as a General Manager until his retirement in 1997.
He was a member of the Indy RC South Model Airplane Flying Club in earlier years. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed woodworking.
A celebration of Ernest’s life will be held on Saturday, February 11th at 2:00 p.m. at Flinn and Maguire Funeral Home, 2898 North Morton Street, (U.S. 31 North) in Franklin. Family and Friends may visit on Saturday, February 11th from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Greenlawn Cemetery where military honors will be conducted by the Franklin American Legion Post No. 205 and the United States Marine Honor Guard.
