William Earl ‘Bill’ Grimes, 87, of Hutchinson, died October 29, 2018, in Hutchinson. He was born April 25, 1931, to Albert and Ada (Ireland) Grimes in Marion, KS. He was a graduate of Marion High School and Wichita Barbering College.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1951 to 1955, stationed primarily in Japan.
On August 23, 1959, he married Janet Lee Holub in Marion. She died November 19, 2001.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet and grandson, William David Grimes.
Bill is survived by: daughter, Sharon Grimes, Pratt; sons, Loren and Gary Grimes; granddaughter, Amanda Petz; great-grandchildren, Laney and Adrienne Petz and William Willard; and beloved friend, Frances Ewertz, all of Hutchinson.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 700 E. 25th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Craig Waetke officiating. A barber all his life in the Hutchinson area, Bill spent most years at the 13th and Main Barber Shop and his own shop in the Leon Hotel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet and grandson, William David Grimes.
Bill is survived by: daughter, Sharon Grimes, Pratt; sons, Loren and Gary Grimes; granddaughter, Amanda Petz; great-grandchildren, Laney and Adrienne Petz and William Willard; and beloved friend, Frances Ewertz, all of Hutchinson.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, December 8, 2018, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, 700 E. 25th Avenue, Hutchinson, with Pastor Craig Waetke officiating.
