He was born June 11, 1960, to Clifford and Betty (Knitter) Evjen in Two Harbors and was a lifelong resident of Silver Bay. After graduating from Kelley High School in 1978, and while attending night classes at Duluth Vo-Tech, he served a four-year plumbing apprenticeship with A.W. Kuettel & Sons at Reserve Mining Company, and later was employed by Reserve. He worked for a short time in Buffalo, Minn., where he earned his Master Plumber certification, then opened Duck's Plumbing & Heating in Silver Bay. In 1991, he went to work at the Minnesota Veteran's Home to prepare it for opening, and continued working there until his death. Duck was a member of Sychar Lutheran Church, the Silver Beaver Gun Club, the Rowdy Riders Snowmobile Club and Softball Team, and the Camp Snoopy Hunting Club, and was active in Silver Bay Youth Hockey, and had served on the Silver Bay Rescue Squad.
Duck is also survived by his wife Robin, son Jake, his parents Clifford and Betty of Silver Bay, brothers-in-law David, Ron and Brad Kolenda, all of Munger, and Richard Kolenda of Proctor, a sister and two brothers, a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.
Burial was in Sawtooth Mountain Cemetery in Beaver Bay Township.
