After leaving the Navy, Don worked for the AAFES until moving back to Colorado in 1978 and returned to Canon City in 2006. He was the owner of two real estate firms and also worked for Colorado National Banks, as Vice President.
Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Trudy Ann Francis; parents, Philip and Edna Francis; sister, Helen Batchelor and brother, Bud Francis
He is survived by two sons, Donald (Martha) Francis Jr., Tad Francis; daughter, Kathe (Todd Johnson) Francis-Johnson; his wife, Donna Francis; grandchildren, David and Mark Francis, Kaitlyn and Kylie Johnson; step-daughters, Frankie (Gailen) Harrison, Kathi (Steve) Samsel, Gae (Rebel) Snider.
Visitation, 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 6, followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 a.m., both at Canon Community Baptist Church, 1111 Monroe Ave., in Canon City. Interment to follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
