From The Robesonian, Lumberton, NC, Mon., 17 Sept. 1928 - Mr. J. H. Floyd Died At Home Here This A. M. - Third Stroke of Paralysis Proves Fatal - Funeral and Interment Tuesday at 3 P. M.
Mr. J. H. Floyd died at his home on Water street this morning at 11 o'clock. He was 67 years old. He suffered a third stroke of paralysis last Wednesday night.
Mr. Floyd had been in failing health for some time, but his condition was improved until the stroke came last week. In previous years he had suffered 2 slight strokes that had placed him in feeble health.
Funeral services will be conducted from the home Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev. Euclid McWhorter, pastor of Chestnut Street Methodist church, of which deceased was a member, and interment will be made with Masonic honors in Meadowbrook cemetery.
Surviving are Mr. Floyd's third wife and the following children: Mr. H. Regan Floyd of Wilmington, Mr. Frank Floyd of Red Springs, Mr. Robert L. Floyd, Miss Ellen Ruth Floyd and Mrs. Jill Rozier of Lumberton, Mr. Bun Floyd of Chipley, Fla.; 3 sisters - Mrs. Dorcas Leggett of Lumberton, Mrs. R. R. Barnes and Mrs. Joe Murray of Barnesville.
