Doris Elizabeth Wood died peacefully on February 1, 2017. The oldest of three children, she was born on October 21, 1924, in Waco, Texas to parents, Wade and Pauline Buice. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life with services that are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2017 in the chapel of Jackson's Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with Dr. David O. Dykes officiating. She will be laid to rest at Cathedral in the Pines Cemetery. She was a devoted wife and mother and assisted her husband with bookkeeping with his business, Century Contract. Upon moving to Tyler in 1964, They joined Green Acres Baptist Church, where they remained very active . She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, John Wesley "Woody" Wood, and by a brother, Rayburn Buice. Survivors include her son, Wesley Wood and wife, Elaine of Bullard; daughter, Pam Jones and husband, Michael E. Jones of Tyler; Sister, Zella Cleveland of Temple; grandchildren, Camden and Amanda Jones of Tyler, Megan and Michael Doss of Dallas, Rachel and Michael Fischer of Dallas and Lloyd Wesley "Woody" Wood; great-grandchildren, Nash and Lyle Jane Jones and Norah Doss. Honorary pallbearers will be the Care and Share Sunday School Class of Green Acres Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in the form of a donation to the John Wesley and Doris Buice Wood Endowed Scholarship Fund for Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing, 3700 Worth Street, Dallas, Texas 75246.
