Brian Lee Herrema, age 52, of Caledonia, ran into the arms of Jesus on Monday, September 1, 2014, after fighting brain cancer for 14 months.

He was a loving husband to his wife of 23 years, Jackie (Vanden Berg) and loving father to his children Mitchell, Morgan, and Madison Herrema. Also surviving are his wonderful parents, Nelson and Jean Herrema; sisters, Cheri and John Kuiper, Bonnie and Kevin Brower, Lori and Craig Nagelkirk; many nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Jay Vanden Berg; mother-in-law, Deanna Ryman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. at Alger Park Christian Reformed Church (2655 Eastern Ave SE, Grand Rapids) with Pastor Stephen De Witt and Pastor David Deters officiating. Relatives and friends may meet the family at the Matthysse-Kuiper-DeGraaf Funeral Home (4646 Kalamazoo Ave. Kentwood) Wednesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. For those who wish, contributions may be given to South Christian High School or Spectrum Health Hospice.
