She was a daughter of Clarence Gale and the late Marjorie Elizabeth Houghton Benware.
She graduated from Carthage Central High School in 1969. After high school, she went to work for BC/BS of Northern New York for 4 years. In 1973 she started working for Jefferson County as a Senior Data Entry Operator until her retirement in 2006.
Susan served as the treasurer for Watertown Christian Academy and Watertown Christian Women’s Club, ministry of Stonecroft Ministries, for several years.
She was survived by her father; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Penny) Keen; Mrs. Roger (Sandra) Marland; and Mrs. Curtis (Brenda) Yeary.
She was predeceased by her mother in 2009.
