Military Service in the Confederate States Army between March 18, 1862-August 05, 1863, 30th Arkansas Infantry. Daniel joined the Confederate Army March 18, 1862 in Pocahontas, Randolph Co., Arkansas. He served in the 30th Arkansas Infantry which later became the 25th, Co. A. He was captured at the Battle of Stone's River in Tennessee on Dec. 31, 1862 and sent to Camp Douglas in Chicago, Illinois. Daniel was released after a prisoner exchange and returned to his company Aug. 5, 1863. There he asked for a 45 day furlough to Arkansas and did not return to duty.

Daniel served as a Justice of the Peace and as Postmaster in Water Valley Township, Randolph Co., Arkansas.
