Douglas C. Colbert Sr. of Newtown Square/West Chester

Douglas C. Colbert, Sr., 78, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2017 at Freedom Village. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla A. Baker Colbert, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in Woodbury, NJ, he was the son of the late Clarence C. and Eva Armstrong Colbert. Mr. Colbert proudly served his country in the United States Army.

He worked for PECO Energy for 32 successful years before retiring in 1992 and then went on to work for American Appliance for 10 years before retiring in 2002.

He was an avid tennis player and bridge player and occasionally enjoyed to golf and bowl.(sic)

He was a passionate high school football referee in Delaware County and a huge Philadelphia sports fan.

Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Colbert is survived by his children, D. Cooper Colbert, Jr. (Nancy G.), Courtney V. Smith (Paul C.), and Cameron R. Colbert; two grandchildren, Carrie C. Bartlett (Chris) and D. Cooper Colbert, III (Anna Purinton) and one great grandson, Colton Cooper Bartlett. He was predeceased by his daughter, Christina L. Colbert.

A Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Avenue, Downingtown with a visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 am.

Interment will be private with the family.
