Everett H. Smith, 94, formerly of 408 Euclid Ave., died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 1988 at 7:30 p.m. in Bucyrus Community Hospital. He had been seriously ill ten days.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 16, 1893 in Climax, Morrow County, to Alfred M. and Sabina Jane (Douce) Smith. He was married Dec. 6, 1919 to Inez Lepp, who preceded him in death Feb. 18, 1934. He was then married June 16, 1936 to Treva Schell DeLashmutt, who died July 27, 1941. He married Mae Buttruff Kinney May 24, 1943; she preceded him in death Aug. 11, 1964. Mr. Smith was married April 4, 1967 to Gladys Miller Farquhar, who died March 11, 1972.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Walter R. (Jane) Michael, Bucyrus, a stepdaughter, Mrs. Darl (Jean) Kinney Gatchell, Marion, a stepson, Dr. Robert E. DeLashmutt, Atlanta, Ga., two step grandchildren and a step great grandson. Preceding him in death were two brothers, a sister and a daughter, Evelyn Smith.
Mr. Smith taught school in Morrow County for a few years. In 1957 he retired from the Railway Postal Service after 40 years of service. A lifelong resident of the area, he graduated from Ohio Northern University. He was a lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bucyrus and an Army veteran of World War I.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Wise Funeral Home. Rev. Clayton E. Turner will officiate and burial will be in Iberia Cemetery. Friends may call Friday at the Wise Funeral Home from 7-8 p.m.
