Funeral services for Glenn W. Matthews, 81, of Lamesa will be held Friday, December 16, at 2:00 p.m. at Church of Christ with Minister Mark Hackett officiating. Interment will follow in Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5:00-6:30 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. Glenn passed away peacefully at his home on December 12, 2016. He was born on April 11, 1935 to Edwin T. and Lora Mae (Counts) Matthews in Lamesa, Texas. He married LaDon Chitwood on September 3, 1955 in Lamesa. They were married 61 years. Glenn was a CPA in Lamesa and worked for 54 years. He really liked his work due to friendships over the years with his wonderful clients. He loved golf and enjoyed the friendships he developed with his golfing buddies. He was a long time member of the Church of Christ. He truly showed his Christian faith in his everyday life. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, LaDon; son, Terry Matthews and wife, Pat of Dallas; granddaughter, Shannon Barfield of Waco; sister Tomie Matthews of Austin; brother-in-law Jr. Behringer of Ruidoso, New Mexico; special nieces, Donna Reed and husband, Tom of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Cindy Vannatta of Waco; great niece, Lacy Rogers, and husband Zach of Lubbock; great nephews, Tommy Vannatta, and wife, Mandy, Travis Vannatta and wife, Audrae both of Waco and Trey Vannatta and wife, Delani of Cleburne; as well as many cousins he was very close to. Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tracy Matthews Healy; infant grandson, Jeremy Brian Yocom; and sister-in-law, Connie Behringer.
