Alvin Reinschmidt was born at Midland, South Dakota on October 28, 1914 to William and Frieda Reinschmidt. He attended school in Midland and spent most of his youthful years working around Midland. He worked for Lou Ilg and Griggs Davison as an electrician, and for Jake Oberembt putting up wind chargers. Later he moved to Butte, Montana where he was employed in the copper mines.
During World War II he served in the Tank Battalion of the 9th Armored Division.
After the war he worked in the mines in Miami and Globe, Arizona. While living in Miami he married Mary Swafford on June 12, 1950. He moved to Grants, New Mexico in 1964 where he passed away at his home on August 16, 1979.
He is survived by two daughters, Frieda Carahan of Hobbs, New Mexico; Alvina Montoya of Phoenix, Arizona; three grandchildren; one brother, Walter of Belleflower, California; and two sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Clara) Root of Canistota, and Mrs. Ben (Lynda) Anderson of Midland, South Dakota.
