Avanell was born March 20, 1911, in Ben Wheeler to Jessie Bean and Sabra Salina Morris Heard.

She lived her entire life in Ben Wheeler and in two houses in the past 85 years. She and her husband, Booster, were married July 12, 1930 in Ben Wheeler. They owned and operated Moore's General Merchandise from the 1930's until the 1980's. She was a member of the Ben Wheeler Church of Christ. Avanell enjoyed taking care of people, reading her Bible daily, reading other books, watching Wheel of Fortune, and visiting with her many friends.

Mrs. Moore is preceded in death by her husband, Delmoney Mona Lee "Booster" Moore; two daughters, Doris Sue Moore Wheeler and Betty Leenell Moore Oxford; four sisters, Mattie J. Heard Germany, Valretta Golden Heard Gay, Hallie F. and Lillye May Heard Reed; two brothers, Richard Lee Moore and Hollie Jesse Moore.

Avanell is survived by her son, M.L. and Delores Moore, eight grandchildren: Pam Hudson, Debbie and Rocky Smith, Sheryl Cadick, Jan and Jim Colley, Lori Wheeler Ficor, Scott and Heidi Moore, Greg and Cheryl Moore, and Shelley Walker; fifteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Buddy Wheeler; and several nieces and nephews.

Services were on Sunday, January 29, 2017, at the Eubank Funeral Chapel in Canton with Ronnie Carter officiating. Interment will be in Prairie Springs Cemetery in Ben Wheeler.
