Mary Stockdale, Mayor's Mother, Dies Wednesday
Mrs. Mary Alma Stockdale, 75, 1519 North B street, died on Wednesday afternoon at 1:15 o'clock at the Mercy hospital. She was a patient one day, but had been in failing health for the past several months.
Born Sept. 14, 1889, at Pt. Isabel, she was the daughter of John and Mary Windsor Reddick.
She was married to Allison Park Stockdale Sept. 19, 1909. He died April 9, 1948.
She was a member of the Harmony Christian church at Leisure.
Survivors include five sons, Mayor Luther Stockdale of Elwood, Charles and David Stockdale of Tipton, John of the U.S. Navy and Robert at home; three daughters, Mrs. Geraldine Villars of New Orleans, La., Mary Stockdale at home and Mrs. Alma Swingley of Anderson, 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
The body is at the York and Dunnichay funeral home where friends will be received after 7 o'clock this evening. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at the York and Dunnichay home. Rev. James Shockney of the East Union Christian church will officiate. Burial will be made in the Elwood city cemetery.
