Jack was a lifelong resident of Wetumpka, Alabama.
He graduated with the Wetumpka High School Class of 1960 and from the University of Alabama and the Auburn University School of Pharmacy.
In his early adult life, he practiced pharmacy in central Alabama but found the work confining. Jack found satisfaction in working in his family automobile repair business. Eventually he devoted his work efforts to developing a successful automobile repair and salvage business earning a region wide reputation for expertise in rebuilding radiators and alternators. Jack kept his repair shop as immaculate as a pharmacist counter and the clothes he wore.
The loyalty of the men he worked with – Randy Stubbs, Kenny Speigner and Charles Moon – was especially appreciated by Jack.
Jack's parents, Herbert Paul Arant (1921-1984) and Annie McInnish Arant (1920-2002), predeceased him.
In the last few years of his 74 years, Jack suffered from several severe illnesses. He often expressed gratitude for the kindness and support of his friends and caretakers.
During various times in his life, Jack enjoyed hunting, playing golf, canoeing and activities in the beauty of the outdoors. He would want his friends to remember the good times they enjoyed together.
Jack will be buried in his family plot in a graveside service on Sunday, January 29th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wetumpka City Cemetery.
