Robert P. Petras, 84, of Ford City, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, in ACMH Hospital.

Born November 16, 1932, in Ford Cliff, he was a son of the late Paul and Ethel (Wolfe) Petras.

Bob was a member of Crooked Creek United Presbyterian Church. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and retired as a carpenter from the Carpenters Local Union 333.

He enjoyed fishing, going to his camp in deer season, watching both the Pirates and Steelers, and boxing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife, Norma (Cooper) Petras; three sons, Russell (Janice) Petras of Cabot, Ronald Petras of Watertown, NY, and Daniel (Rhonda) Petras of Ford City; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, Carl Petras of Galion, OH; and sisters, Dorothy McElwain of Ford City, Mary Jane Shankle of Worthington, Janet Lux of Ford City, Patty Fennell of Ford City, and Louise McEntire of Elderton.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two grandsons, Jason Petras and Colby Cousins; a granddaughter, Shawna Petrosky; a great-granddaughter, Rayanna Petras; and five brothers, Glenn, Dick, Ed, Bill, and Don Petras.

Friends will be welcomed from 7-9 p.m., Friday, and from 2 p.m., Saturday, until the time of the service at 3 p.m., in the Welch Funeral Home, 1032 Fourth Ave., Ford City. His grandson, Brandon Petras, will officiate. Interment will follow in Ford City Cemetery.
