Mr. Lloyd William Bateman, 83, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday January 25, 2017 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born on March 4, 1933 in Surry County to the late Monroe Clyde Bateman and Oma Agnes Sawyers Bateman. Mr. Bateman was Owner-operator of Lloyds Restaurant. He served our country in the United States Army. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Thompson Bateman of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Dowdy and Steven of New Jersey; sons and daughters-in-law, James Bateman and Maricel of Nevada, Kenneth Bateman and Pamela of Missouri, Michael Bateman and Louise of New Jersey; six grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters and brothers-in-law, Lorine Moore and Wade of Mt. Airy, Bonnie Mellor of Mt. Airy, Leah Davis and Rex of Pilot Mountain; a brother and sister-in-law, Mike Bateman and Vivian of Weaverville; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Bateman was preceded in death by a sister, Vertie Lou Bateman Hubbard. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with the Mr. Brian Gwyn and Mr. Kenneth Bateman officiating. Burial will follow at Skyline Memory Garden. The family will receive friends Saturday from 9:30 AM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
