Celia, of Santa Fé, passed away following a long bout with diabetes. She was predeceased by her parents Juanita R. and Enrique Gurulé of La Cienega; her first husband William Martinez; and her second husband Alvin Montoya.

Celia was survived by her children: Mary B. Dean (husband Joe Jr.) and Robert J. Martinez; mother-in-law María Inéz Martinez; grandchildren: Robert Ché Martinez, Joe Abrán Dean, Isaac William Dean, Tomas A. Dean, and Celia Marina Martinez; step-granddaughter Amy Chávez (husband Raymond); two great-grandchildren: Sol Dominic Dean and Reece Martinez Angel; brothers: Delfido Gurulé of Greely, Colorado, Enrique Gurulé, Daniel Gurulé, both of Santa Fé, JoJo Gurulé of Española, Archie Gurulé and Gilbert Gurulé, both of Santa Fe; sister Juanita Flores of Santa Fé; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Celia was a loving mother and grandmother. She was the owner of Celia's Beauty Salon and a member of La Cofradia de la Conquistadora.

Visitation was on 21 March 2000 at Berardinelli Family Chapel. Celia was then taken to St. Francis Cathedral where visitation continued and a rosary was recited. Mass of Christian Burial was on 22 March 2000 at St. Francis Cathedral. Interment followed in the Santa Fé National Cemetery.
