Geri was born on May 17, 1921 in Algonac, MI, the daughter of Dr. Clark Harsen and Mary Charlotte Jackson Harsen. The Harsen's were a pioneer family in Michigan dating back t the mid 1700's. Geri enjoyed growing up on the St. Clair river and always loved the water.
Geri graduated from Michigan State University in 1943 with an art major and music minor. While raising her children, she designed interiors on the MSU campus for residence halls. She was a talented watercolor artist continuing to paint into her 90's. Family and friends would gather around the piano to sing along as Geri played her favorite songs. She remained a loyal Spartan fan throughout her life. She was a member of ASID, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and choir, MSU Alumnae, Alpha Chi Omega, University Club and P.E.O. Volunteering was a part of her life both in Michigan and Indiana, doing so in hospitals, church, schools, and cultural and art events.
