Marking, Theresa Higdon Payne, 87, died Sunday, August 17, 2014 at her home.
The daughter of the late Louis and Elizabeth Lanham Higdon, Theresa was born September 22, 1926 in Owensboro, KY. Theresa retired from the Jefferson County Kentucky School System after 26 years of service.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William Henry Payne; and siblings, Betty Royal and Virginia Lanham.
Survivors include husband of 20 years, Charles A. Marking; children, LaDonna "Niki" Nelson (Gary), Tony Payne (Tammy), Becky Boggs (Justin); step-children, Charles Marking (Cathy), Wayne Marking (Virginia) and Lisa Owen (Neil); sisters, Bernadette Roberts and Eva Jo Cecil; brothers,William L., Charles and Junior Higdon; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Kraft Funeral Service, 708 E. Spring Street, New Albany, IN. Her Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, 129 W. Daisy Lane, New Albany, with entombment to follow in Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville, KY.
