Tami Diane Mayfield was born November 9, 1961 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the daughter of Vernon Roy Mayfield and Paula Edwards, joining an older brother Vernon Aubrey. She also had an older sister Kay Lynn Mayfield, and although they never met here in this place, they are together now. She was the granddaughter of Ray and Lillian Edwards, and Harvey Allen Mayfield and Herbie Augusta Reynolds Mayfield.

Tami came into this world wide eyed and with a heart full of joy and laughter. She loved everyone around her and wanted nothing more but to be loved in return. She was full of jokes and tricks that she inherited from her father and her "Granny" Herbie. Nothing pleased her more than to be able to "pull one on you". When that laughter went from us December 30, 1972, it was as if a bright light had been turned off. Thirty-five years later there is still an empty place in our hearts, but we know that one day we will be together with whole hearts once again.

Tami was laid to rest in the Holdenville Cemetery, Holdenville, Oklahoma January 2, 1973 and remained there until September 28, 2007, at which time she was moved from the Holdenville Cemetery to the Lone Star Cemetery, Rocky, OK, where she will one day rest beside the father she adored.

We think of you in silence.
We often speak your name.
But all we have are memories.
And your picture in a frame.
Your resting place we visit.
And put flowers there with care.
But no one knows the heartache.
As we turn and leave you there.
