John Thomas Jones Jr., 82, of Woodford, died Friday, March, 25, 2011.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at Pen Branch Cemetery with Rev. Matt Rucker and Rev. Rex Wilson officiating.

Mr. Jones was born in North, a son of the late John Thomas and Catherine Norwood Jones Sr. He was a graduate of Brevard College and attended The University of Georgia. He was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church of Woodford. He was a former member of North Volunteer Fire Department and local prominent businessman. He was the former owner of North Pharmacy in North.

He was an avid fan of the Georgia Bulldogs. He loved to travel. For more than thirty years, he enjoyed gathering and visiting with the band, family, friends and fans of Waylon Jennings.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Boles Jones, of the home; a daughter, Anita Rachelle and husband Barry Elliott, of Concord, N.C.; three sons: Tommy Jones, of Bamberg, Phil Jones, of Lenoir, N.C., Steve Jones, of Atlanta; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and nurses of Caughman Way at Lexington Extended Care.




NOTE: 1st wife was Mildred Gordon Bruns, married on Feb. 19, 1954 at the Lutheran Church of the Incarnation, daughter of Woodrow Edmonson Bruns and Mildred Camden Fellers.
