Mrs. John McGregor, for many years a respected resident of Sycamore, died on Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Smyth, in Minneapolis, where she had gone only three weeks before, accompanied by her husband, to visit her daughter. She suffered from heart disease, which caused her death.
Mrs. McGregor was born in St. Charles, Ill., on December 12, 1847. She was married there when she was 20 years of age, to Mr. John McGregor. They became residents of Sycamore 27 years ago, and had ever since made this their home.
There are surviving three children: Mrs. Elmer Rose of Sycamore, Mrs. Harry Smyth of Minneapolis and George of Chicago. A sister, Mrs. Charles Caldwell and a brother, Charles Crandell, both of St. Charles, are also surviving.
Mrs. McGregor was a member of the Methodist church, a great help in the Women's Relief Corps, and a noble woman faithful to every duty.
The remains arrived in Sycamore on Thursday, and the funeral was the home on Park avenue at 2 o'clock on Friday afternoon, Rev. E. G. Cattermole officiating. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery.
