Benjamin Franklin Welch is the son of Isham and Belinda Rogers Welch. He was born on January 2, 1839 in Putman Co., Indiana. He died on July 2, 1920 in Hammond, Ozark Co., Missouri at the age of 81 years and 6 months.

He was married twice. His first marriage was to Sarah Denny who died in March of 1877. They had four daughters. One daughter died in infancy. The remaining three are: Malinda Jane Welch born 16 March 1872 in Seymour, Webster Co., MO; Mary Frances was born 16 March 1872 in Seymore, also; and, Florence Caldonia was obrn February 2, 1876 in Ozark Co., MO.

Upon the death of his first wife, he married Francis Elizabeth Matney on 10 November 1878 in either Waldo or Seymour, Webster Co., MO.

Francis and Benjamin had 8 children:

He served as a private and a Sgt. in the War Between the States as a member of the Co. D, Bowen Batt., 10th MO Calvery between 1862-1865.
