BULKELEY -- On Saturday, April 1, 1939, at the home of her nephew, Frederick C. Bulkeley, New Baltimore, N. Y., Albena M., sister of the late Alpheus T. Bulkeley, in the 90th year of her age. Funeral services at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, Albany, on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Friends may call at the Tebbutt Memorial Chapel, 176 State Street, on Tuesday evening.

Albena M. Bulkeley, one of the last descendants of a long-established Albany family and benefactor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, died Saturday [1 Apr] at the home of her cousin, Frederick C. Bulkeley, in New Baltimore in her ninetieth year. Born in Albany in 1850, Miss Bulkeley spent her entire life here, except her school days at the Parker School for Girls in Connecticut, where she was the roommate of President Grant's daughter. Sir Peter Bulkeley first established the family in America in 1640 at Concord, Mass. In 1812, a branch of the family came to Albany, where Henry Bulkeley, Miss Bulkeley's father, owned a wholesale grocery business on Broadway. Miss Bulkeley and her brother Alpheus T. Bulkeley, who died in 1931, contributed $100,000 in memory of their parents Emmanuel Church for the construction in 1927 of a Sunday school building. Miss Bulkeley served as financial secretary of the church for 20 years and after her brother's death took over his duties as trustee. Until last year, she continue her church activities. ACTIVE IN CHARITY-In addition to church work, Miss Bulkeley was a member of the board of managers of the Old Ladies Home, now known as the Albany Guardian Society, and was also a director of the Albany Association of the Blind. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Church and burial will be in [Albany] Rural Cemetery.
