Entered into rest on January 14, 2017 in Spokane, WA. Walter was born in Belk, Alabama on January 19, 1922 to John and Minnie Carmack. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. At a USO dance, he met a local girl, Ann Toskey and upon his discharge in 1946, they became husband and wife.

They settled in Spokane and started a family. Together they raised two children, John and Kathy. Walter was a hard worker and worked as a telephone line splicer for ‘Ma Bell’. He loved the outdoors, particularly hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his dear wife of 64 years, Ann, in 2010.

Walter is survived by his son, John Carmack; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Tom Landwehr; and by two granddaughters, Michelle Carmack and Kristi Landwehr.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the CHAPEL OF FLOWERS, RIPLINGER FUNERAL HOME, 4305 N DIVISION, SPOKANE, WA. Viewing will be possible prior to the funeral service. Walter will be privately laid to rest beside his loving wife and dance partner, Ann, at the Orchard Prairie (Union) Cemetery.
