Ruby Violet Burch, age 97, of Bloomington, died Monday morning in the Golden Living Center. Born September 2, 1919 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Ben and Eva (McGlocklin) Hostetler. She was a morning cook for Indiana University for 18 years. She loved having a garden, working crossword puzzles, watching birds and taking care of her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by two sisters; Bessie Ryan, of Bloomington and Betty Gray, of Martinsville and one brother, Robert Hostetler, of Indianapolis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell E. Burch in 1988, her son, Charles M. Burch in 1985, one sister, Edna Engledow and two brothers, Charles Hostetler and Wayne Hostetler.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike with Rev. Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family at the mortuary from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the charity of one's choice.
